📍 Schynige Platte - SAVE THIS POST!

This is one of those hikes I’ll remember forever - it was beautiful yet challenging and I felt a sense of accomplishment 💪🏻 ❄️ 🏔️ 🥾

Schynige Platte offers sweeping views of Interlaken via the Panorama trail and also has a a flower garden, restaurant, and hotel! 💐

A few tips:

1. Check the weather before arrival via their official sites ❄️ ☀️ 🌧️ The hike may be closed for the season (June - October) or due to weather.

2. Wear waterproof hiking shoes 🥾 We wouldn’t have been able to hike in the snow, ice, and mud without them! If the weather is perfect on or before your arrival, you would be fine in trainers. I would recommend poles as well if the trail isn’t in ideal conditions.

3. Wear layers 🧥 Weather, man! 🥵 🥶

4. Bring sun gear 🧢 There isn’t much shade on the trail, so bring your sunscreen & hat!

5. Have a plan 🗺️ There are several different versions of the Panorama Hike. Do you want to do the full hike? Partial hike? There are various options ~45 minute, 2 hour, and 6 hour. There are some great blog posts we found that included photos of signage on the trail (admittedly navigating them isn’t the easiest).

6. Be flexible ⏰ Schynige Platte may be shrouded in clouds. If you want the views, you may need to change the day or time of day you visit!

7. Be ready to get on the 🚂- The trains don’t have assigned seats and fill up. There was one instance where a few people didn’t make the train and they would need to wait for the next one. We were ready 30 minutes before departure but some people showed up 2 minutes before and got on before us 🤷🏼‍♀️ There unfortunately isn’t a queue, so be ready to hope on right when the doors open!

A quick down and up to 📍Mürren

The round trip time from Wengen to Mürren is an easy 40 minutes via 2 trains and a cable car! 🚠

Train 1: Wengen to Lauterbrunnen (13 mins) 🚂
3 min walk to the cable car 🚶🏼‍♀️
Cable Car: Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp (4 mins) 🚠
Train 2: Grütschalp to Mürren (11 mins) 🚂
Add a few mins of wait time, and ta-da! ⏰

The SBB Mobile app will be your best friend when you’re planning your itineraries in Switzerland 🚂 . In fact, downloading the app should be one of your first to-dos when planning since you can see all of your transit options from place to place! 🗺️

This patio at Hotel Edelweiss offers an incredible view of the Lauterbrunnen valley 😍 It’s a no frills vibe, but it allows you to fully focus on the surrounding mountains 🏔️

We sat here for over an hour talking and enjoying a glass of Swiss Chardonnay, taking in the crisp alpine air ❄️

Mürren is a quick cable car ride up from Lauterbrunnen and is a must see on a clear day ☀️

Mornings in Wengen 🏔️

This small village with 1,300 residents year round stole my heart! Around every corner was magic ✨ Wengen is picturesque views, church and cow bells, birds chirping, and quiet pedestrian-only streets that make you feel at peace 🏔️

You know those places that become special to you for one reason or another? Wengen is one of those for me. 🥹

Of course each person is different - it’s always so cool to hear and see people fall in love with places that pass you by - but sometimes a time and a place calls you home 🏡

This viewpoint is only a 5 minute walk from the Wengen train station and offers a sweeping bird’s-eye view of the Lauterbrunnen Valley 🏔️ Once you find the church, walk down through an opening in the hedge and you’ll find a bench and standing area where you can take in the breathtaking scenery 😍

You won’t be alone, but that means you’ll have someone to take your photo! 📸

Be patient - the clouds move quickly! One moment, the clouds will be in full force, the next they will clear revealing the valley below. 🙌🏻

Las Brisas in Laguna Beach is conveniently located along a beautiful beach walk, one of the main beaches, and areas for shops / restaurants! 🌊

Dishes are quite large and perfect for sharing! They have a fixed brunch menu with bottomless mimosas if that’s your thing 🥂

@inkind_hospitality has a great promotion there that we used for both brunch and dinner! (Not sponsored, just a great way to save when dining out!) 💰
